- A man and woman found dead Tuesday inside their two-story home in Oceanside both died of gunshot wounds, police said Wednesday.

Police said earlier that a preliminary investigation indicated the deaths were a murder-suicide.

The Nassau County Medical Examiner's Office has not released their names pending notification of relatives.

Property records list the homeowners as John Andrew McWorthy, 62, and Barbara Carol McWorthy, 64.

Nassau County police Sgt. Jeff Brandt said Wednesday that "more than one" gun was found inside the house near the bodies.

He said the investigation is ongoing as to whether the man or the woman was the victim. More information will be released following autopsies, he said.

Officers went to the home on Cypress Avenue near Oceanside Road about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday to check the welfare of a woman who had not shown up for work. Officers entered the home when no one responded and found two bodies inside.
